The ice is going out in front of our bay right now. The ice flow in the picture has open water on both sides. Monroe and Unnamed are clear of ice. Goose Lake is probably open. Poirier should be ice free soon. Whitelaw should be open in the next few days.

We traveled from Fort Frances to Red Lake today. Rainy Lake is almost completely ice free.  The ice was off Sand Bay on April 17. This image is Eagle Lake taken from Vermillion Bay.

Warm weather is forecast for the weekend. The photo at right is from the Superior Airways float plane base in the river. The current produces the first open water in the area. You can see there is still lots of ice around the docks.

Howey Bay is frozen over this morning. Cold weather and no wind overnight. All of our lakes should be frozen over by now as well.  This photo was taken from the hill behind Green Airways looking east toward the bridge.

As you can see by the photo at right our bay is trying to freeze. The north wind, which blows directly into our bay, has not let up and the waves prevent freezing.

We left camp today. The weather has been beautiful for the past 10 days–warm and sunny–we didn’t even have a fire at night. Forecast for Sunday is cooler and rain. We accomplished a record number of projects this fall. Once again another successful season thanks to our great guests. We know you have choices and…

We brought the boats from Nechigona up to Goose Lake for repairs. Louise and Bill, along with our very good friend Mr. Lewis Winch, moved the boats over the portage in about three hours.
