It has happened again. A 28 inch walleye and a 27 inch walleye caught within minutes of each other. This time it happened to long time guests Lon and Ron (they are twins). Lon caught the 28 incher and less than 10 minutes later, Ron boated the 27 incher.

The fishing has been great. Walleye to 30 inches and northern to 42 inches. Yes, even lots of great eaters.

Jeff and his crew arrived at Goose Lake this morning at 6 am. They had great walleye fishing at Coon Ass Point in the morning. They had walleye for lunch and Jeff caught this 42 inch northern before 6 pm. A great first day.

We are at Goose Lake. The water is very high and the north wind blew the last pieces of ice into our bay. Tomorrow we go to Whitelaw to get it ready for the fishermen arriving Friday. We had one and a half days of bad weather which put us behind schedule. The…

The ice is out at Unnamed Lake. We worked all day getting ready. The reef markers are in and the portage is cleared. The water is very high (within a couple inches of the top of the dock). Monroe Lake is still iced over but should be open in a couple of days.

First, the good news. The small lake by Tim Horton’s was ice free yesterday morning. The lake by the hospital (Florin Lake) was also ice free. The ice is still melting in place (no wind). The bad news, last night it snowed and it continues to snow this morning. We expect a change to rain…

Several operators have their airplanes in the river and are ready to go as soon as we get some open water. So far we have not had much wind so the ice is melting in place. As soon as we get a good wind many lakes will open up.
