Today, it was time to get things ready at Nechigona Lake. We used the come-along to pull the top ramp up into position. Then we did the same with the bottom ramp. We pulled the boats down from the hill and then went back to camp for lunch. After lunch, we flew…

A beautiful calm day perfect for putting out the reef markers at Goose Lake. We place the markers in South Bay and then along the south shore right to the honey hole. It is not all work. Before heading back to do the north side of the lake we motor up to Woman Falls…

The diesel and the water system are up and running. We have telephone and internet. The minnow traps are in. The water is up, about 14 inches below the top of the dock so there was no problem getting the floating dock from the river.

We are back in Red Lake. As you can see by the photo, winter is still here and Howey Bay has lots of ice.

Don’t be fooled by the open water in the photo at right. I took an hour of training at Fort Langley Air in British Columbia. It is spring in B.C. with flowers and sunshine. We will be back in Red Lake by April 1 to watch the ice and snow melt.

It is cold but we are still here in Red Lake. Yesterday, Bill talked with Mike Litwin (Petro Can fuel dealer) and he was making a couple of half loads with his fuel truck into Pikangikum. The ice is not yet thick enough for big trucks and full loads. There is a new…
