On May 11 we launched the
aircraft at Howey bay. I had to taxi through the
ice a few times to break it up a bit and then take
off. link to video of takeoff |
|
On May 12 we went to
Unnamed Lake to get it ready for the first group of
fishermen. The picture to the right was taken on
our return to Red Lake. Howey bay still
has a large area of ice. |
|
We had
a short window to get Unnamed ready for the
Crabb party leaving Greens May 14 |
|
The next day at Red Lake. The weight of the snow is actually enough to sink the airplane. I removed the snow several times. |
|
Meanwhile at Unnamed lake the Crabb crew forged ahead with their shore lunch. |
|
On May 17 we flew to Monroe
Lake to get it ready for the first fishermen.
The snow was melting and I carried the portage motor
for West Lake across the portage. |
|
We
arrived at Goose Lake on May 18. We had to get
the motors from their winter storage area in the
service building |
|
May 27 at Nechigona Lake
the Schlack crew helped get the ramp and boats ready. |
|
By June 23 the threat of
frost was over and Louise planted her flowers. |
|
On July 6 we started
construction of a new floating dock for Goose Lake.
Then the rain started to really get serious |
|
By August 12/09 the water
at Goose Lake peaked. Yes, the entire barrier
around the end of the fixed dock is under water. |
|
August 22 we built a new
floating dock at Whitelaw Lake. |
|
Our summer was very wet and the insects had
their best year ever. Fortunately fishing was
great
(see the 2009 Tremolo for who caught what.) |

our online photos site for pictures |
The rains ended in early
September and the weather was great for September,
October and November We cut firewood for next year and closed up camp by September 27 |
|
Howey Bay froze over on December 4/09.
Early December weather was very cold with little snow
so the ice is off to a great start. |
|
February 15/10 we are finally on vacation
in Cozumel. Phone calls automatically call
forward to us here and we are always checking
emails. Yes, Louise is an experienced scuba
diver. We dive with our friend Freddy Contreras
at Mestizo Divers. Please check Freddy out at http://mestizodivers.com/ |
|
We like to go to Cozumel for carnival.
There are 3 parades, the biggest one was Tuesday night
Feb. 16. The parade was an hour and a half long
but it took 2 hours because one of the floats caught
fire and the strong winds spread the fire to the
thatched roof of Senior Frogs. See
the video here |
|
February 21/10 we went on a Lion Fish hunt loonhaunt.com/mestizo |
