Jon and Kathy Pounds started
fishing with us in 1991. Their favourite
fishing spot is Monroe Lake. |

They originally came to Monroe Lake with Woody Wilson and his wife. In later years they brought Woody's parents Bob and Rosemary Wilson with them. |

Jon is a regular
contributor to the bulletin board and no, this is
not a sad story about the demise of a wonderful
couple. |

On May
23/11 we received the following email form Jon I am
sure that you are both busy as can be getting things
ready for the summer. I hope things are going
well for you. Normally about this time we would
be counting the days until we would be heading your
way. It is going to be a real long shot for us
to be able to this year. Kathy is going to need
a kidney transplant and I have been fortunate enough
be qualify as a donor. We will be going in for
surgery on June 29th. The recovery
period should be about 2 to 4 weeks for me and 4 to 6
weeks for Kathy. There is nothing more I would
like then to head up to Unnamed in August. It
will be a long shot but we still can hope. Have
a great summer and we will keep you informed as to how
the surgery goes and how we are doing. Jon

In 2009 Jon and Kathy returned to Monroe Lake to enjoy the record high water. |

We will keep you up to date
on the progress of Jon and Kathy's surgery. If
all goes very well we may see a picture of their 2011
fishing trip right here. July 4/11 I just called Jon and he and Kathy are at the hospital checking out and waiting for a ride home. Both are doing very well. The doctor encouraged them to drink lots of liquids and Kathy asked about beer. The doctor said beer is a liquid isn't it. Happiness is being under doctors orders to drink beer. |

July
30/11 We just received this email from Jon and
Kathy Hello
Bill and Louise. I have
been checking on the website every few days trying to
get updates on how things are going. It looks
like an excellent season so far. Great weather,
great fishing, and few bugs sounds like a replay of
our trip last year. We would love to be doing it
again but it looks like we are going to have to wait
until next year. Our
recovery continues to go well with both of us going
back to work part time this past week. Kathy’s
blood counts are all good and her energy level is
better than it was prior to surgery. She doesn’t
have any limitations on what she can eat, she just
can’t lift anything over 10 pounds yet. She is
getting her blood work done just once a week now and
will have another follow up doctors appointment on
August 8th. Kathy is taking 17 pills
in the morning and another 12 at night until they get
her medication levels set. Then it will probably
go down to 5 or 6 that she will have to take the rest
of her life. We have
been taking daily walks and nearly every day I will
comment to her that this is perfect Canada
weather. We would normally be just a week or 2
from packing up and heading north. Unless a
minor miracle comes along we will have to be satisfied
with planning next years trip. Hope you have a
great finish to the season and we will stay in touch. |
